About the Award America's Best Restroom, presented by Cintas It is a very private experience that happens in public places all over the world. Whether at a restaurant or a rest area, a high-rise office building or a "nice clean gas station," everyone at some point makes use of public facilities. The reality is that public restrooms matter to the public. The way a business or building treats its facilities is a reflection of its operating standards. In one recent survey, more than 75% of respondents said they would not return to a restaurant if the restrooms were not well kept. In the face of statistics like this, we felt it was worth giving credit where credit is due. At this site we are honoring companies and organizations who go above and beyond the call of duty to present a pleasant, even memorable experience in a public restroom. Please share your experiences, vote, and be sure to check back whenever you find “a nice, clean gas station” so we know where to bring our business. ELIGIBILITY Any restroom in the United States that is open to the public is eligible. Previous Top 5 winners will be eligible for reconsideration after one year. NOMINATIONS All nominations are accepted online through www.bestrestrooms.com. Nominated restrooms are considered by the editing team based on eligibility, style, comments from the nomination and cooperation with the process. VOTING A finalist list of up to 15 will be provided to the Internet Public for final ranking. Locations are scored through a points process based on the total number of finalists. For example, in a group of ten, a restroom receives ten points for first place votes, nine points for second, eight for third, etc. Winning restroom hosts are notified by the ABR Editorial Staff.
